Stuff

According to my insurance agent, I have coverage on personal property worth over $153,000. Now, whether or not this is the replacement value or not, I can assure you that this number is highly exaggerated. Rest assure, if I had this type of money in possessions, I would sell them all and payoff my house. When asked to see if I could lower this coverage to a more subtle number such as $20,000, I was told that they base this amount as a percentage of my dwelling costs. My point is, does any of this really matter? When I wake up each day, my heart and mind immediately go to give thanks for the free stuff in my life such as my wife, my kids, good friends, health, air, etc. I would like to think that I've learned a few things over the years and that material items are not as high-up on the list, as they used to be. Could I help a friend in need or serve in a greater capacity? How can I make a positive impact in the lives of my children? What role do I play, if any, in my community? How can I be a better husband? This list goes on and on. Quite honestly, I feel that most of us speak of these same things but never quite make the transition from talk to walk. The famous quote says "You can't take the stuff with ya", certainly tells the story, doesn't it? My hope for my life and yours, would be to influence those around you in the most excellent and positive way. This may not be God's will for your life in totality, but it sure serves a purpose, outside of yourself. From now on, wake up and say "It's just sttuff" and make your move to help change lives that are within your grasp!
